Camping Trip 13th-15th
On Wednesday we received our junior certificate results, luckily everyone was happy with their results. After running around the school with excitement we packed our many bags onto the bus and headed for Lough Dan. On arrival we unpacked the bus and started to assemble our tents, this for Amy, Rachel, Lucia, Lilykate and I was the most challenging yet entertaining part! None of us had ever put up a tent before and after a long time of struggling we finally erected our tent! The decorations now began and when we hung the fairy lights our tent was perfect!
The teachers gave us time to relax and chat before we left the camp site to embark on a 5km walk. Luckily there was only a few showers of rain on our walk to the river. We walked 5km and were wreaked the 17km walk the next day suddenly seemed more intimidating! The next challenge was making dinner and not being able to light our barbeque is probably a give away on how that went! With Lilykate and Rachel as our chefs we had dinner and no one went home with food poisoning which is a huge positive Amy and I did the cleaning. Whilst we were doing this the Bon fire had been lit with plenty of sticks! The weather of course being cold that night the fire was appreciated and we all sat around listening to music and talking. That night was cold and windy and our tent was more like a marquee with breezes coming in from all sides and the sinking air beds led to surprisingly a good sleep!
The walk the next day was amazing with some of the most gorgeous views I have ever seen and this for me was one of the most enjoyable parts and there were many! Seeing as the weather wasn't cold enough we decided to go for a swim in the freezing Lough Dan it was quite hilarious because everyone was absolutely freezing and all ran to the showers after! The Bon fire was again lit for unfortunatly the last night, we all probably could've stayed weeks! All that night we played cards and Mr Gearthy came down to see us after our results. Packing our tent the next morning was challenging and also sad as we all had such an amazing time and really didn't want to go home! The trip was definitely educating and I learned so many new things, I will miss Lough Dan!
